Silicone for junction coating resins

Typical Applications of liquid silicone junction coating resins

Liquid silicone junction coating resins are designed for covering diode, transistor, and rectifier junctions. These resins provide a 100% solids coating and our rigid quality control guarantees ionic purity levels of maximum 1 ppm.

CAPLINQ presents LinqSil LSC junction coating resins, which include LinqSil LSC 100, a one part junction coating, and LinqSil LSC 200, a two-part junction coating. These coatings will prevent electrical breakdown, stabilize peak inverse voltage, minimize junction surface leakage, and provide environmental protection for high temperature performance.

Typical applications of these junction coating resins include electrical and mechanical insulation prior to plastic molding, protective coatings over hybrid integrated circuits, and hermetic-type passivation of semiconductors.

Other applications of liquid silicone resins in various devices are stated below:

  • 1. GTO Thyristor Coating
A GTO is a four layer switching device that is used in electronic circuits to turn it on or off by applying a short gate pulse to it. liquid silicones for junction coating resins is done in the GTO thyristor circuit to make it moisture resistant and a stable heat device.
  • 2. Hybrid IC Chip Coating
A hybrid integrated circuit is an electronic circuit that is constructed of various semiconductor devices- transistors, diodes, inductor, resistors, and capacitors bonded to a substrate board. The hybrid IC chip coating is done to prevent the chip damage during potting.
  • 3. LCD Electrode Protection Coating
LCD electrodes are used in panel displays that use the light modulating properties of the liquid crystal to display images in monochrome or color. Liquid silicone junction coating resins is used for circuit protection, and to provide electrical and mechanical insulation before plastic molding.
  • 4. Photo Diode Coating
The photodiode is a semiconductor device that converts light into electrical current based on the photons absorbed by it.
The liquid silicone coating is used to stabilize peak inverse voltage, as applying a reverse voltage to a photodiode causes severe damage to the device performance.
  • 5. Thermal Head Coating
Thermal coatings are applied to the metallic surfaces, which are operated at elevated temperatures in the form of exhaust heat management. The liquid silicone junction coating resins are applied to provide environmental protection for high-temperature performance and thermal cycling.
