TSE/BSE Statement for CAPLINQ Products

Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are conditions that affect the brain and nervous system of many animals and humans. In recent history, a particular type of TSE called bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) spread in cattle in an epidemic fashion. Many will remember this now-famous epidemic as “Mad-Cow Disease”. The uncomfortable truth is that the cause of these BSEs was because the cattle involved were fed remains of other cattle.

This practice has now been banned in many – if not most countries – primarily as a result of the TSE/BSEs.

The regulation that generally defines this regulation is the European Commission Decision 97/534/EC.

As a result of both this practice and the regulations meant to prevent this behaviour, companies are now asking their suppliers to provide “TSE/BSE Statements”. Most of all, to essentially confirm that the materials they supply do not contain any raw materials produced from, or derived from animal origin.

CAPLINQ has been asked specifically to supply a TSE/BSE Statement for our LINQSTAT Conductive Plastic Film material, so here is the official TSE/BSE Statement. Of course, if you require a TSE/BSE statement for other CAPLINQ products, please contact us for such a statement.
