Product Description

LLINQTAPE PIT1A-ESD-Black Series is a high-temperature resistant polyimide tape with Electro Static Discharge designed for both permanent and temporary bonding in many high temperature applications. This tape has the same mechanical properties as our standard PIT1A-Series products, but is black and has a 1µm conductive polymer that provides Electro Static Discharge and makes the tape anti-static.

TheLINQTAPE PIT1A-ESD-Black Series tapes get their conductivity by being carbon-loaded. As such the film provides both thermal conductivity as well as antistatic control with a surface resistance less than 10E9 ohms per square. This product is an alternative to Kapton XC film with an acrylic adhesive layer.

Dielectric strength is measured in kV per mm and is calculated by the Breakdown voltage divided by the thickness of the tested material.

Those two properties go hand in hand and while Breakdown voltage is always thickness dependent, dielectric strength is a general material property.

As an example, the dielectric strength of Polyimide is 236 kV/mm. If we place 1mm of Polyimide between two electrodes, it will act as an insulator until the voltage between the electrodes reaches 236 kV. At this point it will start acting as a good conductor, causing sparks, potential punctures and current flow.
